Why do we need to do dental x-rays?

As your dentists, we rely on a number of important tools and instruments to help give you the best possible dental care, preserving the health of your teeth, and preventing problems from developing. The dental x-ray is perhaps one of the most important of all of these tools.

When we can catch problems early, we can treat them using inexpensive, fast, and conservative treatments. But if we wait until those problems grow to the point where they are visible or painful, the time for conservative treatments will have passed and we will need to perform a more complex procedure to preserve your dental health.

Dental x-rays allow us to spot developing problems in their infancy – often before you even know that a problem exists! This is also why we recommend x-rays on a fairly regular basis. How often you will need x-rays will depend on a number of factors, including your age, your overall health, and your dental health. Elk Grove dentists Drs. Phipps and Ngai will discuss these factors with you and provide a recommendation as to how often your x-rays should be performed.

Your health is important to us, and x-rays help us to preserve your health and protect your teeth. If you have any questions about x-rays, don't hesitate to call us.
